This Privacy Policy applies to the extent that we collect, use and disclose personal information in connection with this website and our related services.

Acceptance of this Privacy Policy

By providing us with your personal information, using this website, or accessing any of our products, services or features, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

What is personal information?

When used in this Privacy Policy, "personal information" has the meaning given to it in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). In general terms, it is any information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, address, telephone number, email address and occupation. If the information we collect identifies you, or you are reasonably identifiable from it, it is personal information.

What personal information do we collect and hold?

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your name, mailing or street address, email address, mobile and telephone number, age or date of birth, and occupation or job title;

  • your property goals and preferences, such as the type of property, locations, budget, timeframe and school zones, and any properties you shortlist or buy with us;

  • financial information you share so we can plan a purchase or portfolio strategy, such as income, borrowing capacity, deposit, equity, existing properties and loans, and cash flow (we do not provide financial advice);

  • identification documents and details about any company, trust or self-managed super fund (SMSF) that will buy property;

  • engagement agreements, payment records, and notes from calls and meetings;

  • feedback, survey responses and testimonials you give us;

We may also collect non-personal information that does not identify any individual, such as anonymous survey responses and aggregated data about how people use our website.

We do not sell your personal information. If Insight is ever sold or restructured, personal information may be transferred to the new owner, who must continue to protect it in line with this policy.

When does the law require us to collect your personal information?

Some laws require us to collect and disclose personal information. For example, we may need to do so under the Property Occupations Act 2014 (Qld) and the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth), including the regulations and rules made under those laws.

We send SMS and email messages only to people who have consented or where we have an existing relationship, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You will hear from us by SMS and email if:

We do not send property advice by SMS, and we never buy or rent contact lists.

Opting out: click "unsubscribe" in any email, reply STOP to any SMS, or contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We action requests promptly and within 5 business days. We may still contact you about work you have engaged us to do, and where the law requires.

Information security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, including personal information, from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We use password-protected and access-controlled systems, restrict access to staff who need it, and train our team in privacy obligations. We review our data handling practices regularly.

Information may be stored in cloud or electronic storage systems that can be accessed from various countries. Where appropriate, we use secure transmission facilities, but no transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us online.

Data retention and destruction

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes it was collected and to meet our legal obligations. Identity and transaction records are generally kept for seven years, as required by law. When information is no longer needed, we securely destroy or de-identify it. You can ask us to destroy or de-identify your information where we no longer need it or you withdraw your consent, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

Offshore data disclosure

Some of the technology providers we use, such as cloud storage, email, CRM and website platforms, may store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Before we disclose personal information to an overseas party, we take reasonable steps to make sure they comply with the Act and the APPs and keep your information protected and confidential.

Links to other websites

Our website may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for, and make no representations about, the privacy practices or content of those websites. This Privacy Policy does not extend to linked websites.

Accessing and correcting your personal information

You have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. We will respond within a reasonable time, normally 30 days, and take reasonable steps to keep your information accurate, up to date and complete. We may ask you to verify your identity first.

Please make requests in writing to our Privacy Officer using the details below. We may charge a reasonable fee for providing access and will tell you beforehand. In limited cases we may refuse access and, if so, we will explain why.

Commercial relationships

We work with referral partners who provide services outside our own, because we are not licensed to give financial, lending, tax or legal advice. Insight does not receive commissions or referral fees from these partners, but we maintain professional relationships that may involve mutual referrals. We may share your details with them where you have asked for or agreed to an introduction.

You are free to use any adviser or provider you choose, and you are never required to use our referral partners.

Anti-Money Laundering compliance

From 1 July 2026, changes to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) mean we have a legal obligation to verify your identity before we provide certain services to you. These checks help protect the financial system and the community.

What is AML/CTF?

Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) laws aim to stop criminals using legitimate businesses and transactions, including real estate, to hide illicit funds or support terrorism. From 1 July 2026, certain real estate services in Australia are regulated by AUSTRAC, so businesses providing them must comply with AML/CTF obligations. We have engaged AML Partners, a third-party compliance provider, to conduct our AML checks and verify identity. We have engaged AML Partners, a third-party compliance provider, to conduct our AML checks and verify identity. AML Partners is our dedicated AML service provider.

Why are we requesting this information?

When we provide regulated services, we must complete a Customer Due Diligence (CDD) process before we act for you. This involves confirming your identity, understanding who owns or controls the person or entity involved in the transaction, and taking additional steps where a customer or transaction presents a higher risk.

What information may be requested?

Depending on the purchasing structure and the transaction, your Insight representative or AML Partners may ask for:

  • your full name, date of birth, occupation and residential address;

  • details from an identification document, such as a driver's licence or passport;

  • ownership or control information for a company, trust or SMSF, including evidence of beneficial ownership; and

  • information that helps us understand the nature and purpose of the transaction and, where required, the source of funds or wealth.

How will this information be used?

We use it to meet our legal obligations, verify identity, assess risk and help make sure the transaction is legitimate. We may also use it to keep required compliance records and, where the law requires, to meet reporting obligations to AUSTRAC. We collect only the personal information reasonably necessary to meet our AML/CTF and related legal obligations. Under OAIC guidance, we do not keep copies of full identification documents for AML/CTF record-keeping unless another law requires it.

What happens if the information is not provided?

If you do not provide the requested information, we may be unable to provide the regulated service or proceed until we receive it, because completing customer due diligence is a legal requirement.

Retention

Personal information collected for AML purposes is kept for the period required by law and then securely destroyed or de-identified.
